Who We Are

Together, we stand for hope, dignity, and change

Our Story

In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a single clinical encounter revealed a stark and painful reality about healthcare access in Pakistan. Dr. Peer Asad Aziz, a consultant physician and surgeon, was confronted with the case of an infant from the remote Thar region suffering from a life-threatening yet treatable condition. The child’s future hinged not on medical possibility, but on affordability and the family, overwhelmed by financial hardship, was forced to walk away.

That moment laid bare a systemic failure: conditions that medicine can treat routinely become fatal when access is denied. It was a moment that demanded more than sympathy it demanded action.

From this realization, the Bu Ali Seena Foundation was born, founded on a simple but uncompromising belief: life-saving healthcare should never be determined by geography or income. What began as a deeply personal response to injustice has since grown into a structured, mission-driven foundation dedicated to delivering accessible, affordable, and ethical healthcare to communities too often left behind.

Who We Are

The Bu Ali Seena Foundation is named after Bu Ali Seena (Ibn Sina / Avicenna, 980–1037 CE) the renowned physician and philosopher whose Canon of Medicine shaped medical practice for centuries and embodied an integrated approach to health, science, and service to humanity.

Guided by this legacy, the Foundation promotes compassionate, evidence-based healthcare by uniting clinical expertise, education, and community service to address contemporary health needs.

In furtherance of its mission to advance professional standards, the Bu Ali Seena Foundation operates as a member-based professional organization, conferring honorific Membership upon individuals who have demonstrated sustained, original, and impactful contributions of the highest order to medicine, surgery, and the health sciences. Membership is conferred through peer nomination and expert evaluation, in accordance with the Foundation’s Membership Regulations.
